October-end through mid-January Bryant Park offers ice skating. General admission and lockers are free. Bring your skates to skip the nominal rental fee. Skate 8AM-midnight. The Park also holds a quaint holiday market of outdoor shops of specialty gifts.

Take a walk around Midtown to get into the Christmas spirit. Check out the Christmas window displays in NYC.

Check out Grand Central's light show which runs every half hour on the half hour from 11am - 9pm, daily. While you're there, stop at the MTA's Transit Museum free Holiday train show which is located at the Shuttle Passage, next to the Station Master's Office.

The Union Square Partnership holds special holiday markets and caroling during this season.
