  This is an unexpected fortress/castle in the middle of mundane midtown.
• The Church of the Transfiguration (One E29th Street btwn Fifth and Madison Avenues)

• Central Synagogue (652 Lexington Avenue at 55th Street)
  Free docent-led tours at 12:45pm every Friday.
• Chrysler Building (Lexington Avenue at 42nd Street)
• Citigroup Center (53rd Street and Lexington Avenue)
• City Hall (260 Broadway)
  Free weekday tours but must RSVP.
• Hearst Magazine Building (300 W57th Street at 8th Avenue)
• Lipstick Building (885 Third Avenue at 53rd Street)
• Empire State Building (5th Avenue at 34th Street)
• Gracie Mansion (East End Avenue at 88th Street)
  Admission for children and students are free.
• Grand Central Terminal (42nd Street at Lexington Avenue)

• The Helmsley (230 Park Avenue btwn 45th and 46 Streets)
• Lever House (390 Park Avenue btwn 53rd and 54th Streets)
• The Little Church Around the Corner (One E29th Street btwn 5th and Madison Avenues)
• Manhattan Municipal Building (1 Centre Street at the intersection of Chambers and Centre Streets)
• NY Public Library (455 5th Ave New York NY 10016)
  Free tours every day at 11am and 2pm.
• The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York (233 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10016)
• Post Office (Eighth Avenue (bwtn W 31 & W 32 Streets)
• Riverside Church (490 Riverside Drive)
  Free one hour Sunday tours begin in the First Balcony at approximately 12:15pm. These tours include a brief history of the church, a summary of its programs, and visits to Christ Chapel, Gethsemane Chapel, the Nave and the Chancel. The organ console is usually included as well.
• Rockefeller Center (5th Avenue and 50th Street)
  Art deco detailing.
• Seagram Building (375 Park Ave at 53rd Street)
• Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (1071 5th Avenue at 88th Street)
• St. Bartholomew's Church (Park Ave at 51st St)
  Tour the spectacular sacred space of St. Bartholomew’s every Sunday at 12:15 pm.
• St. John the Divine (112th Street at Amsterdam Avenue) and Children's Sculture Park
• St. Patricks Cathedral (460 Madison Avenue at 50th Street)
• Time Warner Center - Shop (59th & Columbus)
  Large open space, beautiful views of Columbus Circle, fantastic art.
• Tweed Courthouse (52 Chambers Street btwn Broadway and Centre Street)

• Ukrainian Institute of America (2 East 79th Street)
• Woolworth Building (233 Broadway btwn Park Place and Barclay Street)

Unexpected gems
• 40 West 40th Street (south side of Bryant Park), 2nd Avenue - check out the gargoyles.

• 47th Stree through 50th Street on Lexington Avenue
  There are beautiful small details on the buildings of the W and Marriott Hotels and other buildings on the East side of the street.

  Gorgeous life-size portrait scultures.
