Shakespeare in the Park

Only during the summer. Here, many famous actors got their start or have taken time to guest perform. About.com offers tips to receive these coveted tickets.  Tickets are available at 1pmthe day of performance at the Delacorte Theater and also a limted number are online.

A free workshop prior to performance will be lead by the Public Theater’s Teaching Artists. All ages are invited to explore the language and imagery of William Shakespeare.

The  NY Philharmonic has offered free summer concerts at Central Park for more than 40 years. Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer, the classical concerts have a fireworks finale too!

This year, the NY Philharmonic offers two free indoor concerts as well at CUNY Staten Island College and Queens College.

NY Classical Theatre offers free performances, open rehearsals, and family workshops in locations across Manhattan. This summer’s performances are William Shakespeare’s King Lear in Battery Park and The School for Husbands by Moliere in Central Park.  Rehearsals and performances vary and are open and free to the public. No tickets or reservations required. Just show up!
